First & Second Grade Bobcats

The beginning of the year is always exciting.  The first & second graders are becoming stronger readers, mathematicians, & scientists  This month in science we’re focusing on weather patterns and how they affect us. Beginning with Groundhog Day, we will be making predictions and using the scientific method to guide us through our learning. Making a rain gauge and creating a cloud in a jar are just some of the experiments that will take place among the little Bobcat scientists.  In math we continue to memorize our math facts to 12 in first grade & 20 in second grade.  We just wrapped up our fraction unit and will begin probability.
Learning about all genres of text has been a focus in literacy. Ask your child about realistic fiction, fantasy, and what a biography is.
We are getting closer to the 100th day of school. This day will be dedicated to the number 100. Students will be spending the day counting, sorting, comparing, sharing, & the list goes on.  It will be interesting to see what 100 items the students bring to school.
Time is flying by & we invite you to visit our classroom to see everything we’re learning.  Hope your February was fabulous!
