Thank you to all the parents that help out with the Valentines Day party. Whether you donated money, supplies, or time to the party, it made all the difference in making it a fun day. The party consisted on passing out valentines, decorating and eating of heart shaped cookies. When I though that the students were full of enough sugar, we watched some old Disney short films that the students really enjoyed. Thanks you all again.
At the beginning of the year all the teachers got together and came up with some goals that we need to work on. One of those goals was for 3/4 graders to become proficient in typing. This is a great way for our students to become more comfortable with typing out papers. As students move through the different grades, they will be using computers more and more. Bethany has adopted a typing program called Mavis Becan, which the students go through individual lessons. Students have been broken into three groups and get 30 minute sessions during their reading time. Keep up on your student to see how they like this program.
We have been doing some amazing things in our Little Bobcat Hour time. We had a two week lesson on ants and how they work as a team to keep their colony working. We made our very own ant hill in the hallway; you should come in and look! We currently finished a lesson on the life cycle of salmon. We learned some great things especially that salmon are born in the rivers and end up in the ocean. Then after a couple years, they swim all the way back to spawn. It’s an amazing process. You can also come in and enjoy the salmon swimming in our hallway. Ask your students to tell you about all the things they have learned from the Power Hour.
