We are really picking up speed in the kindergarten class. The students are learning new words every day. We are beginning to write , correctly punctuate sentences, and are reading more and more! I am so proud of these students and credit their parents for working with them at home.
A current theme in our classroom has been ‘sea creatures’. We have learned about sharks and whales. We sort and categorize our little sea creature figures. We did some shark art for the art fair, sang a shark song for Grandparent’s lunch, and plan on writing a book about whales soon.
Numbers are continued to be worked on every day. Lately we have been learning the value of money, specifically pennies, nickels, and dimes. They love to pretend they are counting out money to spend on a candy bar, or to put into their savings bank.
Several dads have come in and shared about their jobs. Emma’s dad taught us about the life of a truck driver, Connor’s dad showed us all his fire fighting gear, and Baylei’s dad came in his Sheriff’s deputy uniform and led us in a discussion about his duties and safety. If any other parent would be willing to come in and talk about his or her job, we would love learning more about different careers. Please let me know or just drop by!
